Sequels Empty
PostSubject: Sequels   Sequels EmptyTue Nov 01, 2011 12:40 am

You know, some say sequels are bad, some say it always depends on what you're talking about. But you know, there's always the exceptions. I for one think the best sequel on the gamecube console was Smash Bros. Melee, it may have been revolutionary, just as some games just evolve insanely, and you know, ssb64 was great too, so that is totally an achievement for Melee. I'm pretty sure Super Smash Bros. 64 was created on a small budget, but with the money they got from it, they used it for SSBM. So in the end, we got what they really wanted to achieve, what they saw on the future, what they might have not been able to add in the first one, and new things they came up with on the making. Another good sequel for me was Sonic Adventure 2 from Sonic Adventure.

So lets talk about sequels, maybe you had/have a favorite, maybe you have one you hate, maybe you hate all of them and want to explain some? It doesn't have to be gaming in general.

Though here's a cool melee video:

Sequels Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sequels   Sequels EmptyTue Nov 01, 2011 1:27 am

I have a ton of different opinion on sequels. There are those sequels that aren't all that great (and if they are, they aren't as good as the originals). Phantom Hourglass, for instance, is definitely a good game, but is nowhere near the level that Wind Waker achieved. And then there's some sequels that just feel like the original game, with a bit of new content. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a good example of this. Then there's other sequels that I don't even know which I like better - Kingdom Hearts 2.

There is one sequel that, to me, stands out above and beyond the original (with the original being a great game on its own). That is Portal 2. It had everything that made the first game great, but rather than just reusing it (like SMG2), it made it something new, something it's own. It's one of the few games out there that had a lot to live up to (from the first game), but ended up surpassing it's predecessor.

Anyway, there's my two cents. I'm tired and don't know if anything I just said made sense (or cents lololol). Bfdkjf good night.
