| So I've totally taken a liking to these animated pixel icons over the past few days. I've surprisingly actually learned a thing or about pixel art, and I feel I have grown as an artist. Over the period of two or three days. But, yeah, pixel art is fun. Here's what I made [in the order I made them]. My icon: I started off basing these off other people's sprites, so this one is largely influenced by those. I'm pretty happy with how it looks. I think I did a pretty good job of making it look like me. And his head bobs up and down because static images are boring. My brother's icon: When my brother saw my icon he asked me to make him one and I did because I don't know how to say no. This one I made more on my own than the last one, so I'm pretty proud with it. There are a couple mistakes I can see, but I don't think it looks bad. Jon's icon [Version 1]: And then my good friend Jon asked me to make him one too. And I did. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, although I think I could have done a better job with his hair. But this one is nothing compared to Version 2! Jon's icon [Version 2]: And here is Version 2 of the icon I made for Jon! I'm really happy with how this turned out, and had a ton of fun making it! I particularly like how post-explosion Jon turned out. I guess I got a bit carried away, though, because the file size is too big for Jon to actually use it for his icon for DeviantArt.. I guess I should have seen that coming when I made it 67 frames long.. Also, this puts the icons I made for my brother and myself to shame. EDIT: Here is a compressed version I made. It's naturally a bit choppier and faster since I basically went through an deleted some frames. I brought it down to 40 frames. B) - Spoiler:
So what do you guys think?

| I am especially impressed with Jon's. Here is one I made a couple of days ago based off of Jeff's one of himself | |

| @Skralem 1/500?! I never dreamed of scoring so high!
@Apple Thanks! I love the shininess of your hair. What kind of gel are you using to get it like that?

| Max iiiiiiiiin: LUNG P♪ (OST) 4 NUU REiZOFF Knowing myself, and how Supa is gone to help me out here, I think I'm the one in charge of this kind of things. Oh wait, I'm in charge of everything now, LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL (Which is really nothing right now). I'll start by saying that the first thing I loved was animating, right now what I like the most is exactly things like this, pixel art, while animations are cool, for me, my standards of how I animate are REALLY REALLY HIGH, so it takes a WHILE for me to animate something at this time of my Internet Life Experience, so while sometimes I just know when I'm just going to be lazy and not animate with much effort, my style of animation right now is really really time consuming. I kind of like literal frame by frame animating the most now (like you literally move everything at least a bit). Saying that, pixel art is a totally different thing, seeing as how it's less time consuming (as you only draw one frame, except in your case, kind of) and I can take my time in perfecting it if I have it. And when I finish it, I don't have to be like "Well, time for frame 2!", and believe me when I say, you really should take some animation breaks a while (You shouldn't a lot if you want to be known though, unless it's school, which is really the case in most cases), it's like playing minecraft all day non-stop, it'll get tiring or boring even if the game is pretty cool. So after this semi-long wall of text, I'm pretty sure you want to know what I think about these. THEY STINK! lolololololol Just kidding they are the worst I've seen in a while. LOLOLOLOLOLoL JK Sorry lol. - Jefferlope wrote:

I'll be honest and say, spriting-wise, this is my favorite of all, so far, of these ones right here, lol. Of course, I can see where you took the reference from. - Jefferlope wrote:

I like the shirt though. A tip I can give you which might be helpful and I should probably receive some money for it, is, to draw the eyes before the glasses, the head before the hat/hair, and really just apply it to everything, then just cover it up. It might be more work or it might sound like a waste of time, but really, it's just how it works, especially if you're just starting up. - Jefferlope wrote:

Pretty good, could be faster/smoother and have a better beard, but other than that, it's good, remember, practice makes it like me perfect. - Jefferlope wrote:

So what do you guys think? It's actually pretty good, while changing palette colors is not THAT big of a deal (well it depends), I liked how you did that hair effect (The fire and the hair change). I can give you more info/feedback if you ask me for a specific thing (maybe).
I RETRACT, CGA'S THE BEST ONE, nuff said.

| CGA's better. The book was better. Mine was better since it came first. You copied mine craft. I thought you gave him a game. This is weird, I start and you start?! Your sig is better.
Go back to music composing.
Lolololololololjk
What technique did you use for this art? lolololol
Ok well first, he opens his mouth one more time than he should've, I think, so obviously he's saying one more word you don't want to tell us or him, subliminal message?
You know the shading could definetely improve, but it's pretty cool. It's simple, but cool.
Try evolving and try different things for... different things, for example, try to add less copy pasting and more details, like the eyes could be more turned like the cheek was, they could use some shading but since they are small there's no real problem. I would recommend not being afraid to add one more color (to the palette), if you're just using a few (3 in your case) colors, if you don't know how to make it more complex or make it look nicer. It might blend more with the background if you change the outline to more grayish.
However yeah, it's pretty good. You are spriting better than most normal new internet people who are starting out. Experience makes the... level?

You can write that as 3.3333333, right?

You can write that as 3.3333333, right? By making 3 1/3 an improper fraction, you multiply 3 by 3 and add 1, and you keep the denominator and you have as a result 10/3, which if you divide 10 by 3, 1 divided by 3 is too small, so you divide it by 10, which will give you 3, but the remainder will be left with 1, since 3 times three is 9, so you add one 0 and a decimal, and it's 10 again, so you just keep doing until inifinity, which, yes, the asnwer is 3.333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 3 3 3 33 3333 3 3 to infinity+, I'm on a horse. You can write it as 10/3.

| HEY MAX, YOU'RE NEXT! I don't actually have time to make a sprite from scratch, so I used the Mystery Dungeon sprite, and added some edits. And animation. I'd meant for the LOL to look like Max is projecting it with his Psychic powers, but it didn't come out the way I pictured it. It's on the Twitch page now, anyway. EDIT: What the? Why did the transparency come out so weird on the forum? He's the Photobucket link to the picture, since it's now showing right here: https://2img.net/h/i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj148/jefferlope/MaxMatsu-1.gif | |

And lol nice, we got a new lol emoticon, time to replace the "Goku Lol"! (lol jk, not enough time to do that) I like how it doesn't match your others at all, lolololol. This one's truly a masterpiece, no doubt. Flawless. Robolope should say that it's a perfect animation. Whoever is in that is beautiful.

| Lol, I'll probably remake this one myself (using this one as a reference) to make it look less professional match it better with my others, and also fix that LOL. But not until I have some free time. So probably whenever our next long weekend is. Thanksgiving? | |

That makes sense (I was wondering if you had a secret new holiday I didn't know of, and you never cheat in any game!), even though it's still good if it's on a white BG lol.
