| By Eddie Makuch, GameSpot- "Microsoft's full-body motion-control tech, Kinect, released at the beginning of the month at the $150 price point. The company had previously said that it would sell every Kinect unit at a profit, and now it appears that margin is in fact quite large.
Kinect's not so expensive after all, says the report.
According to UBM Tech Insights (via EETimes), who tore apart a Kinect unit and priced each of its components, the per-unit cost of Kinect is roughly $56."Oh, now this is funny, I'll just take a moment to gather my thoughts. | Well, of course they would sell each unit for a higher price than it was to make, otherwise they wouldn't make a profit. But $150? I'd be fine with buying it for $100, but $150? That's a bit much. | |

They should have a 360 by now. Most of them do still have the Xbox, but don't use it that often, and most of them will have a 360 by now too. | |

What? NES =/= Xbox Not even slightly. But... Kinect. I heard from some people that in shooters, you actually have to turn backwards if yo uwant to look back. | |

NES =/= Xbox
Not even slightly. I think he was referencing the age of the console. He's saying that just because you own an old console as opposed to the newer console, it doesn't mean you fail. Supposing you knew that already, let me state more accurate equation: NES =/= Xbox NES > Xbox | |

| It sounds like a COPY of nintendo's motion control. It might be better, or worse as I have not tried it myself.
As for the price?
RIDICULOUS.
But the guy's estimate was for the parts, not including price for assembly and shipping wherever they're made. Which even in China still costs money. | |
